The Castle appears mentioned for the first time in the Nasrid period, and Christian chronicles give news of its surrender in 1484. After the Moorish rebellion in 1568 it was repopulated with Christians.

In an attempt to rebuild the old fortress, in the 1950s a new walled enclosure was built, with battlements and towers, without responding to the original factory. It is the so-called "Mirador Park", from which you can see the contrast of observing Sierra Prieta and the Málaga valley and where the official booth is installed during the fairs of Santiago and Santa Ana, in July and the Olive and Sweet Name of Mary Fair in September.
The current remains of the castle are reduced to the María Sagredo Tower, incorporated into the walls of a house.
You can visit it daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
