It is a small pasture that starts in the rural area of Jorox, within our municipal area.

Settled since the Paleolithic, as demonstrated by the remains found in several of the caves that surround it, such as the one in the Jorox Slash, remains of habitat have also been found in the Jorox district.

In the "Algarrobo or cow cave» where hunting tools from the Solutrean period of the Upper Paleolithic were found and in the «Table Cave» A burial site and two gold trumpets from the Bronze Age were discovered, which are in the Archaeological Museum of Malaga.

This idyllic valley owes its splendor to the spring that gives rise to the river of the same name. The water from this spring is distributed through a complete network of irrigation ditches and pools of Arab origin, to be used as the driving force of a total of nine old mills, as well as for the irrigation of the fertile terraces that house rich and leafy orchards. These nine flour mills that existed next to the Jorox riverbed no longer fulfill their purpose, but some of them have been preserved in good condition.

The main peculiarity of this valley is the contrast offered by the canyon or gorge that serves as the headwaters of the stream and the orchards and fruit trees that accompany its course during its first section. From the road that serves as access to the district, you can see this contrast between the limestone rocks and travertines, and the irrigated areas.

Due to its magnitude, the canyon that is the area of influence of the Sierra de las Nieves is impressive. In the area, there are numerous caves and chasms, which makes it one of the favorite locations for cavers.

In the village as a whole, elements such as the Hermitage of Veracruz and the plateau called Table, places of pilgrimage in the early May pilgrimage. The caves, the Nacimiento and the Charco de la Caldera are the natural emblems of this beautiful enclave of unparalleled landscape.
