Jorox Valley and El Charco de La Caldera route

This valley, located around the river Jorox and on the border between the Sierra de las Nieves and the Guadalhorce region, is one of the natural enclaves with the greatest variety of landscapes in the whole area. It has also been inhabited since the Palaeolithic Age, as evidenced by countless archaeological finds in the caves that surround the valley.

The municipal laundries witnessed the effort and sacrifice of many women, and also served as a stage for a new way of earning a living during the second half of the 19th century, when hygiene was considered a -luxury-.

Mirador Park María Sagredo

It dates back to 1570, when some 600 men led by El Yebali and Lorenzo Alfaqui from Ronda disguised themselves as Castilians and came to Alozaina with the intention of taking possession of it, land where only women, old men and children were to be found, as its inhabitants had gone to harvest.
